Scale Aviation Modeller International 2009 05

I can not believe it has taken so long for such an important type to be kitted in 1/32. The P-80, later F-80, was the first operational US Air Force fighter. It was the mainstay at the start of Korean war and as it was replaced by the F-86 Sabre it became a competent ground attack platform. Further development of the airframe brought the F-94 Starfire night fighter and of course one of the most important trainers of all time, the T-33. This is a typical limited-run model from Czech Model and is far removed from the huge vague lumps of plastic that I remember from my early days in modelling. The plastic has restrained engraved detail that is better than some mainstream manufacturers, and a slightly rough feel, so may need a little polishing bearing in mind the overall natural metal finish that you will need to apply later. Test fitting reveals a very good fit of parts though you may need to carry out a small amount of trimming as you assemble the model. The clear parts are really beautiful, and certainly the best I have ever seen in this type of model kit.
