The British Flat Figure Society, formed just over two years ago, has now reached a membership of some 210 members worldwide. About 10 per cent of these live in North America, proof of how far the love of the flat figure has travelled. Other members live as far apart as South Africa and Australia, but the bulk of the membership is to be found in Europe, especially the U.K. What this stresses is that, in spite of its title, the B.F.F.S. is truly international. Because of the far-flung nature of its membership, meetings as such are only possible either at big events or on a local basis. Nonetheless, the B.F.F.S. is held together by its quarterly journal, which contains many informative articles and reviews for flat figure enthusiasts. Other advantages of membership include access both to expert opinion and to the continental markets, where the range of subject matter is vast. The Society is also running a tour to the Historex competitions in Paris later this year and to Kulmbach next summer. Anyone interested in the Society is invited to send an SAE (or IRCs if overseas) for further details and application form (please quote Military Modelling as a source if you do). Annual membership fees are £5 for the U.K., £7 for Europe and Scandinavia and £9 overseas (air mail). The Society's official address is 3 College Close, Harrow Weald, Middlesex HA3 7BZ, UK.
